L-R: Ready Foundation, Touch Up Veil, Bronzer, Luminizer

Don’t you just love a beauty buy that makes your life so easy? Like, say, a palette of all the skin perfecting products you could possibly need? That sums up, in the shortest way, why I love this sleek bareMinerals kit; I can zip it up, throw it in my bag and touch up my makeup on the go.

What first pulled me in is that I’m a bit of a makeup exhibitionist, in that I have no issue with doing my whole face while sitting on a train. And let’s face it, liquid foundations and creams aren’t easy to juggle on bumpy transport, so this palette is ideal for its pressed powder approach to building a base.

So where do I start in explaining why I love this travel-worthy kit? For starters, the foundation itself creates low coverage with a hint of glow. Paired up with the creamy concealer, it's easy to build a 'no-makeup' base, and it quickly veils any red patches without caking over the drier zones. Miraculous for a powder, right? Well, the Touch Up Veil is just as good; it doesn't impart any colour as such, but it knocks out shine imperceptibly.

Once that trifecta of skin-perfecting has given you a seamless base, you can whip out the angled brush to work in subtle, soft contours. The bronzer is a matte, tawny hue that applies lightly but can be built up, and I tend to sweep it under cheeks and around my jaw and hairline. Because it's such a discreet powder, you don't run the risk of obvious sculpting, so it's easy to gently shade your skin even if you're a bit of a novice, like me.

Finally, the luminizer is a lightly shimmering, peachy shade, which you can tap at the top of your cheekbones to oh-so-subtly catch the light. Don't expect a full-on sheen like you'd get with a liquid highlighter; this is more of an everyday glow with barely a hint of a tint.

The finished effect is natural skin that looks polished, fresh and lightly contoured; it's the sure-thing palette for my inflight bag and, bonus, it won't tip the liquid allowance.
